Colleen is a nurse and cares for other people. Often, however, our patients run out of time to care for themselves. Continue scrolling to see more.
When Colleen was referred to Nuance Dental Specialists, she told us that she was sick and tired of being sick and tired. She had received more than her fair share of poor dental work in the past, and she was ready for a fresh start. We knew that Colleen’s teeth were worn down from stress and she was breaking her existing crowns. A treatment plan to remove her failing dentition and replace it with implant prosthetics would give Colleen the aesthetics, function, and predictability she desired.
Colleen’s case was carefully planned with our surgical colleagues to accurately determine the best possible placement of 10 dental implants. We worked very closely with our expert dental laboratory to design an upper and lower prosthesis that would be easy to clean, and would give Colleen a natural aesthetic that would open her bite, allowing her to chew food more efficiently, and restore volume to her face - making her look more youthful.

After several years of overcoming extreme adversity, a winning smile was the last piece of Mark’s huge life change. Continue scrolling to see more.
Mark is the kind of guy that always lights up the room when he enters. He has a confidence about him that is infectious. When we first met Mark at Nuance Dental Specialists, he was celebrating being 2 years sober. Fixing the worn and broken upper teeth were Mark’s final hurdle in reclaiming his life back to the full potential he once knew.
Like many of the very complex patient cases our specialty clinic treats, Mark’s final implant prosthesis was planned with the end in mind, which meant we had to reverse-engineer everything. After removal of the failing dentition, 5 Straumann implants were placed in the upper jaw. Digital scans were then made to use in collaboration with our expert dental technicians to fabricate a titanium bar substructure. The final result was a hyper-realistic, all-on-x removable implant overdenture that disappears in the mouth. Mark can now focus on eating the foods he loves and living life without compromise.

Kevin is a physically fit, college-educated young man, however, he suffered complete loss of all of his teeth at a very early age. Continue scrolling to see more.
You know that super-dependable friend that never complains, never says “No” and would lay down in traffic for you? That’s Kevin! When Kevin made his first appointment with Nuance Dental Specialists, he was rapidly approaching a celebration that was being held to honor his multi-year freedom from substance abuse. It had been several years since many of his family and friends had seen him, and Kevin wanted his smile to be as warm and welcoming as his personality.
Some patients, like Kevin, are not good implant candidates. For his case, we ended up utilizing a combination of analog and digital technology in order to fabricate a cosmetic denture that possessed strength, beauty, and comfort without the need for additional surgery. After we delivered the definitive prosthesis, Kevin surprised us at our office a year later with special news - he had since gotten married and was now a new father. Seeing his ear to ear smile that we created is what makes the specialty of Prosthodontics worth it every day!

Hilary is a medical doctor from England. When deciding to replace her dentition, she insisted that we give her “British Teeth.” Continue scrolling to see more.
I met Hilary while teaching at the University of New England Dental School (UNE). Since specialty care for complex prosthodontic treatment is not available at UNE, Hilary self-referred herself to Nuance Dental Specialists.
After extraction of the remaining maxillary teeth and placement of 5 dental implants with the surgeons we work with, Hillary brought in an old Kodak picture of how her teeth looked during med school. She noted that she liked the asymmetry and how her smile had “beauty in the imperfection”. Our laboratory technician used the photographic records and a wax-rim to recreate an ideal tooth set-up for Hillary.
Following an aesthetic wax try-in of the proposed cosmetic denture tooth set-up, we began to design the titanium implant REBourke™ bar with our dental laboratory.
Once we verified the passive fit of the titanium framework intraorally, our laboratory adds color and character to the final denture to ensure a natural appearance, followed by a high-shine polish for improved hygiene. The final result is a lifelike and age appropriate prosthesis that is designed to meet the unique function and aesthetics of the individual patient.
